It may sound weird, but many of us are not used to really feeling our emotions. A lot of times we feel a certain way and our mind goes right into action trying to argue why we shouldn't feel that way or takes off in the direction of the story and that distraction pulls us away from feeling.
Speaking emotionally has not been encouraged in our society. Maybe we need to change that? There are so many experiences that are far too expansive to try and understand in thought or vocabulary. They are much bigger and grander. They are emotional!
